Did you know that October 10th is World Board Game Day?
Below there are some suggestions on how we can celebrate this day in our schools:
1. School Board Game Tournament:
• Students can sign up to compete in their favorite games (e.g., Dobble, Uno, Dixit, Catan, Splendor, Chess).
• Prizes for the winners – certificates, small gifts.
2. Game Zones in Classrooms or the Common Room:
• Set up different rooms for various game types: logic, strategy, party, cooperative games.
• Students can rotate between zones and try out different games.
3. A Day Without Bells and Lessons – Just Games!
• Board games integrated into lessons – e.g., Scrabble in language class, Timeline in history.
• Team-building activities using games during homeroom periods.
4. "Bring Your Own Game” – Students as Game Hosts:
• Students bring their favorite games and teach others how to play.
• Encourages cross-class interaction and shared fun.
5. Create Your Own Board Game:
• Students work in groups to design their own game – from concept to prototype.
• At the end of the day, groups present and test their games together.
6. Inter-Class Board Game Challenges:
• Classes compete in various games – points awarded for participation and wins.
• End-of-day summary and announcement of the most “team-spirited class.”
